Max Antics

Yesterday was a warm, beautiful day here in Toronto, so I put Max in the carrier and wore him for a walk and then to the grocery store. Now that he is bigger, he can really see all around him while in the carrier. I have never seen his eyes so big for such a long period of time! He looked around at the world from his new vantage point and marveled at all the amazing things to see. He himself was quite a sight, and many passersby stopped to smile and coo at him. I don't have a picture of this, but it was so adorable that I thought it was worth mentioning.
Later in the afternoon, Max hung out with his Tia, who he is crazy about.

Later, Max went out to dinner with Mommy, Daddy and Tia to a local Peruvian restaurant. The little Punim was on his best behavior.

Finally, here is a short video of Max from yesterday afternoon. He had the hiccups, as usual, and my attempts at scaring them away were useless but made him smile nonetheless.

Chatting With Max pt. 2

Here's another installment of "Chatting With Max". I am endlessly entertained by my son's vocal experiments, as you can see.

Bathing Bookworm

Max has been having a fantastic time with his Tia this week. He loves books, and particularly enjoys being read to. Esperanza is happy to comply. Yesterday, as she read to him he eagerly grabbed and turned the pages of his board books. We all thought that was pretty amazing.

Last night, we experimented with bathing Max in the kitchen sink. It actually worked out pretty well, as the bébé didn't hate it too much.
"Hey! What are you doing, Mom?"
"Actually, this isn't so bad."

Max, sort of liking his sink bath

New Game

Now that Max is older and bigger, he loves more active games. He especially loves when Daddy throws him up in the air, as you can see in this video. If you listen carefully you can hear his little squeals of delight.

Baby's Bumbo

For a while now, Max has been almost desperate to sit up. He's still too little to have mastered that skill on his own, so we have to either hold him or prop him up.

"I wish I could sit up on my own."
So yesterday, after a morning trip to the local farmer's market, we stumbled upon a local children's consignment shop that happened to have what is called a "Bumbo". We took it home and tried it out. Here is the initial result:
"WHOA!"

"I think I like this, but I'm not completely sure."
Here's a video of Max hard at work in his "office", using his new chair:
Although the Bumbo is fun, Max still loves to play on the floor, especially now that he knows how to roll over on his own.

Doctor Approved

Yesterday was Max's 4 month appointment for vaccines and a checkup. I am very happy to say that he is doing just fine. The doctor marveled at his strength and his massive, chunky thighs, not to mention how alert he is. She actually called him little Superman. Max seemed to remember his previous visit, however, and started to howl when we lay him down on the table. I breastfed him during the 2 shots, which eased his distress, but he was not a happy camper. His weight and height measurements were not completely accurate due to how much he was thrashing around (and Max is seriously strong!), but he weighs more than 16 lbs 12oz and is more than 26" long. Last night, he was sleepier than usual, and did a lot of comfort nursing, but he awoke this morning full of smiles as usual. We're so happy that it's over and that we don't have to go back until his 6 month checkup!

Tia Time

Max had a fantastic day hanging out with Esperanza yesterday. They played, hung out, and had fun getting to know each other. Watching them bond is absolutely adorable!

Max loves checking out the books

Out for a wintery walk

Max has become very vocal in the past few days. He loves experimenting with the sounds he can make, as you saw in a previous video. Here he laughs in the funniest way, delighted by the game Esperanza plays with him:

Paul, Esperanza and I are constantly laughing at his antics.

Bienvenida Tia!

Max has been anxiously awaiting the arrival of his Tia. He has taken to gnawing on his teething ring to help pass the time.
At first, Max holds the teether and sucks on his hand...

Once he figures out what it's for, he attacks

"My finger is almost as good as the teether!"

Although she arrived after his bed time last night, Max decided to wake up on his own to meet his dear Tia Esperanza. He greeted her with a smile from the moment she took him into her arms. Max is so excited that he gets to spend some time playing with her this week!
Once he saw his Tia, Max forgot all about being tired!

Love at first sight

Chatting With Max

Because it's a snowy, blah Wednesday, I thought I would attempt to share my little sunshine with all of you. I hope this bonus blog post makes you smile xoxo

Afternoon Visit

Yesterday, our friends Wayne and Jen came over with their adorable daughter Sophie for a short visit. Max was intrigued by the little girl. Sophie was intrigued by Max's baby toys. A good time was had by all.

Spring Sunday

Early spring was in the air on Sunday here in Toronto. Max spent the morning exploring his neighbourhood with his Mommy and Daddy, including a walk in a ravine nearby. His new stroller provided a smooth ride, even on a bumpy, pebble-lined path.

Later that afternoon, Max's great Uncle Todd and great Aunt Lisa came by for a visit. As always, Max loved cuddling and playing with them.

By the evening, Max was all tired out from his fun-filled day.
