An Apple A Day...

Sickness has its privileges: now that he no longer tries to eat it, I have been letting Max play with my iPhone every now and then. It seems to help distract him from feeling sick. I took him in to the doctor today and he has RSV, which is fairly common in young kids. He doesn't need any medication, just time and rest. He already seems to be feeling better, thankfully.

Under the Weather

My poor little sweetheart isn't feeling very well. He seems to have caught the flu that's going around. He's a coughing, snotty, clingy and miserable boy, and not at all his usual happy, playful self. I'm glad we're still nursing because he won't eat solids and only wants to nurse and cuddle all day. At least I don't have to worry about him getting dehydrated. I hate seeing my sweet baby suffer.
When I got out of the shower this morning, this is how I found Paul and Max:
I love my boys. Even with a sick baby, I feel like the luckiest person alive.

Max Meets Santa

Max went to a Christmas party at his Daddy's school this weekend. He had a blast and was all smiles... until it came time to sit on Santa's lap. Mommy was brought in to comfort him, to no avail. I'm happy to report that he made a full emotional recovery as soon as he was away from the scary bearded man in the red suit.

Max loved playing on the air hockey table prior to it being inflated

Not a huge fan of Santa

Poor Santa looks like he might start crying too.
The winning shot. Classic.

T.P. Adventure

This morning, I gave Max a roll of toilet paper to play with. He had an absolutely amazing time unraveling it.

"Okay that was fun. What's next, Mama?"

My Toddler

It's amazing how Max's development, both physical and mental, continues to grow in leaps and bounds, and seems to have accelerated markedly since he turned one on November 28th. Even though as he sleeps peacefully at my side he's still my teeny wittle baby boy, during the day he's a toddler with an ever forming personality. We went for his check up and corresponding vaccinations this past Tuesday, and he weighs just over 26 lbs and is 32" tall. The doctor was quick to point out that he seems to be taking after daddy in the height department. He also noted that Max seems like a very healthy, happy baby who is hitting all his milestones early.
Max is fascinated by, and gets into everything, especially things that you don't want him to get into. He toddles around all day and points at things he remarks or wants, sometimes verbally labeling them in his own language. He is obsessed with playing both his toy guitar and the ukelele. He has developed a much bigger appetite, has finally stopped shunning all fruit, and eats 3 full meals and a couple of snacks every day. At the present time, Max has 10 teeth, including 2 molars, with 2 more molars almost through. I feel like his face has really changed and matured, probably because the molars are changing his jawline, filling it out a bit. Max has also become very affectionate in the past little while. He gives me adorable kisses where he leans in with his mouth gaping open, sometimes licking my cheek. Today I took him to do the paperwork for his first passport, a document which further marks confirms his individuality. It's all happening so fast.
I must admit that there is a side to me that is often overcome with an intense sadness at losing my sweet, little brand new person. Luckily, this is more than balanced out by my excitement at all the changes and developments that are to come.

Pre-Bath Max

One of Max's favourite things is bath time. He gets so excited when he hears the tub filling up, as you will see in this video.

Max's Birthday Celebrations!

Once again, my apologies: these pictures are long overdue. Max's Wellie, Bubbie, Zaidie, Auntie T all made the journey and joined the family that was already here to celebrate the not-so-little-anymore guy's big day. Here are some pictures from the party and the following day.
