My Toddler

It's amazing how Max's development, both physical and mental, continues to grow in leaps and bounds, and seems to have accelerated markedly since he turned one on November 28th. Even though as he sleeps peacefully at my side he's still my teeny wittle baby boy, during the day he's a toddler with an ever forming personality. We went for his check up and corresponding vaccinations this past Tuesday, and he weighs just over 26 lbs and is 32" tall. The doctor was quick to point out that he seems to be taking after daddy in the height department. He also noted that Max seems like a very healthy, happy baby who is hitting all his milestones early.
Max is fascinated by, and gets into everything, especially things that you don't want him to get into. He toddles around all day and points at things he remarks or wants, sometimes verbally labeling them in his own language. He is obsessed with playing both his toy guitar and the ukelele. He has developed a much bigger appetite, has finally stopped shunning all fruit, and eats 3 full meals and a couple of snacks every day. At the present time, Max has 10 teeth, including 2 molars, with 2 more molars almost through. I feel like his face has really changed and matured, probably because the molars are changing his jawline, filling it out a bit. Max has also become very affectionate in the past little while. He gives me adorable kisses where he leans in with his mouth gaping open, sometimes licking my cheek. Today I took him to do the paperwork for his first passport, a document which further marks confirms his individuality. It's all happening so fast.
I must admit that there is a side to me that is often overcome with an intense sadness at losing my sweet, little brand new person. Luckily, this is more than balanced out by my excitement at all the changes and developments that are to come.
