Max and I took the subway downtown yesterday to run some errands. I brought my sweet little guy to Queen St West to sit in Nathan Phillips Square and to see City Hall, where his Mommy and Daddy had their civil ceremony. He loved watching all the people, dogs, bikes, strollers and pigeons go by, and enjoyed feeling the warm air on his bare feet. It's amazing to watch Max take in all the sights and through his eyes I get to see everything in a whole new way too.

Max's New Laptop
Yesterday Max got a new toy to help him do his "work": a baby laptop. It makes sounds, lights up and plays songs depending on which buttons he presses. Maybe now he'll stop trying to get to Mommy and Daddy's laptops. Here are a video and some pictures of the first time he played with it:
Later that morning we went out for brunch at a local eatery and then went for a nice walk. Max rode in his new umbrella stroller, which is very lightweight and perfect for small restaurants and shops. Max seems to be quite comfortable in it, and Mommy can easily carry him in down a flight of stairs in a pinch.

An Afternoon At Aroma
We met up with Christina yesterday while on a walk. Max was very happy to see her, and very interested by her glasses. We went to sit on the patio at Aroma and enjoyed some iced beverages while Max enjoyed babbling at us and the other patrons. It was a lovely afternoon.

Playdate
Max had a fun morning yesterday playing with his friends Evelyn and Cole. Then, in the early afternoon, us Mommies put our babies in our carriers for a long walk. All the babies fell asleep within minutes of going on our walk. We got a lot of stares and smiles as we modeled our baby backpacks.
Back at home, Max was in a chatty mood, so I turned on the camera to film him. It started off fine, but quickly degenerated into a bit of a tantrum for no apparent reason. This video captures how quickly a baby's mood can change.
Also, it is notable that today Max is exactly 6 months old! It's hard to believe that half a year has already passed since Max came into the world, yet it's already very difficult to imagine life without him. Happy 1/2 Birthday, my beautiful little boy!!!

Spring Chicken
Since yesterday was such a gloomy, rainy day, Max and I decided to do a little springtime photo shoot to entertain ourselves (okay, fine, to entertain me). Here Max models his ridiculously adorable chicken hat and stripey one-piece, both gifts from his beautiful Auntie T.
We hope you all have a happy Friday!

Max's New Sounds
I finally managed to catch Max babbling on video. Unfortunately, this isn't the best example of all the new sounds he makes, but it will give you the general idea. If you listen carefully, you will even here the "mama" sound I spoke of amongst all the "babas".
Here are a couple of shots of the Punim wearing his adorable "Teething Bites" onesie that Auntie T gave him. It seems that is working on a couple more teeth, which is making him crankier than usual at times.

Sitting and Playing
Max ha become quite proficient at sitting on his own. Here are a couple of pictures and a short video from yesterday of him playing on the floor. Notice how there aren't a million pillows around?
Max has been saying "Mama" (okay, and also "mamamamamama") over and over this morning. I am desperately trying to get it on film, but he either stops or starts crying when I pull out the camera. I know he's not associating that sound with me, but it's music to my ears nonetheless!

Lovely Long Weekend
Max loved spending lots of time with his Mommy and Daddy over the long weekend. We had a great time going for a long walk and making a stop at the park before the rain started for yesterday.
Back at home, Max was happy to play on the couch. He is very vocal these days: after having mastered the "b" sound, he has since been perfecting his "d" sound. He has even managed an "m" on occasion. I will try to video tape him "talking" soon (he tends to stop the second he sees the camera).
As we were going to bed, some neighbours were setting off an impressive display of fireworks from their roof. Max was enthralled by the colours and the loud sounds that accompanied them. Paul and I mused that the first time that Max really kicked me was during the fireworks on July the 4th of last year in New York City. It seems that our boy is a fan, and that we will likely be letting him stay up past his bedtime for years to come so that he can see them on various holidays.
