More Adventures in Eating

Max has branched out from avocados and tried some carrot followed by some seedless watermelon yesterday. It is remarkable to see him reach for a piece of food, pick it up and get it to his mouth to take a bite, all completely on his own. He usually grabs the food with his left hand, which makes me wonder if he might be left-handed, although he does occasionally pick food up with his right hand as well. While he doesn't actually consume large quantities of the food, this period is all about exploration and fun, and developing his chewing skills as well as his hand-eye coordination. It's also a chance to pique his curiosity about food and help him to become an adventurous eater. Breast milk will continue to be his primary source of nutrition until he slowly starts consuming larger quantities on a more regular basis, a process which takes many months. It's an amazing and interesting process and I love every messy minute of it!
"Bring on the food, Mama!"

Carrot was well received, as you can see

This is where some of the carrots ended up

The king of carrots

Not so sure about the watermelon
Shocked by the texture?

Here's a video of Max eating the watermelon:
