Max's Messy Meal

We gave Max his first taste of solid food yesterday. Rather than go the route of simply spoon feeding him purees, we are doing "baby-led weaning" (which would be better named "baby-led solids"). You can read more about this method, if you are curious: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baby-led_weaning
While most of the avocado ended up on his face, hands, bib and high chair, Max seemed to like it and kept gumming and smushing up the pieces we gave him until they were pretty much obliterated. It was an incredible thing to see.
Here is a video of the first moments of Max's eating experience:
Here are some pictures of Max "eating":

All that activity tired out our little bear. He had a nice nap with his Auntie T in the afternoon.
Later, we went to Uncle Todd and Lisa's for an awesome dinner.

Max gummed on a delicious green bean

Back at home, as we got him ready for bed, Max was wide awake and ready for more fun...

"Don't I look ready for sleep?"

  3. Thanks for sharing this wonderful time in Max's
life, his first bite of real food. He seemed to
like it and will eventually master the art of
eating. The pictures were awesome and I was very
happy to see my family having such a great
    time at Todd and Lisa's.
    Love Nanny xoxoxo

  4. Oh my goodness, what else can I say but adorable!!! This post was truly an outstanding piece of history, and one day we will look back at it and smile even more than we are now.

Also, how funny is it when Paul is trying to show him how to eat;P! In any case, we loved this clip, and we love all of you!

Miss you all and cannot wait to talk to you soon!
